The City along with members of the Industrial, Business, and Residential Community are dedicated to the proper growth and development of the City of Sutton. The City Council is a pro-growth oriented group of individuals dedicated to making Sutton the "Best Community in the World to Live and Work In". Throughout the last few years, the City has undertaken many projects to enhance the quality of life and provide numerous opportunities for growth. Many of those projects include a water and sewer improvement and extension project, a new aquatic facility, and a new sewer lagoon. The council has also worked with the Sutton Development Corporation with the development of a 13 acre industrial tract.

In addition to the City Council, there are two distinct political subdivisions of the City dedicated to promoting and assisting in development projects. While charged with different statutory objectives both play vital roles in assisting in projects within the community. Both the Sutton Community Redevelopment Authority and the Sutton Housing Agency have played key roles in the development of the community. The Sutton Community Redevelopment Authority helped research, develop, and build the Fox Hollow Motel and the Industrial Speculative Building. The Sutton Housing Agency has been a bonding agent for the Sutton Community Home's Assisted Living Project.
