The City of Sutton, population 1507 is served by a Mayor-Council format of City Government. The Mayor is elected for a four year term, while the council members are elected from two wards with staggering four year terms. The Mayor and City Council meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 p.m.

The City operates and maintains the municipal sewer, water and electric systems. In addition to the before mentioned services, the city public works department maintains 22 miles of streets within the city limits. There are a total of 4 parks and 1 municipality maintained cemetery.

Sutton Public Schools offers a full K-12 education experience with appropriate college prep classes and multiple extra-curricular activities. Opportunities for students to expand their knowledge in the agricultural and business sector occur as the students are active members of the community.

The Sutton Christian School offers a Parochial environment for students of K-8. The school offers the standard educationl environment enriched with a religious experience afforded to the students.
